Your Support Invites All to Be Inspired by Art.

Today, 39,000 participants are served annually through VBMA education programs.

With the growth, interconnectedness, and flexibility of the new indoor and outdoor spaces, VBMA will expand our capacity to deepen our impact, enhance our programming, and serve more members of our community.

Every Donation Creates a New Public Realm for Gathering, Learning, and Exchange

Through historic investment in Museum in the Garden: The Campaign for VBMA, our new building’s first floor will offer a piece of everything the Museum does best—education programs, gallery space, events, and amenities—entirely free for all to access.

"We believe strongly in the value (that the new building) will bring to the community and the broader cultural landscape. We have thought the VBMA is an undiscovered gem—the new building will undoubtedly change that (the undiscovered part). We are delighted to support the effort and look forward to seeing it take shape."

Our Journey Forward

The Design Team
Architect Selection
After a thorough search and RFP process in 2021-2022, Allied Works Architecture was selected as the ideal partner to design VBMA's transformed campus. Unknown Studio was selected early in the process as the landscape architect, emphasizing the importance of the gardens to the overall design.

Museum in the Garden: The Campaign for VBMA
Campaign Launch
The quiet phase of the Capital Campaign began in early 2023 with a lead gift of $12 million. Since that time, Brady Roberts and the Campaign Committee have continued to share the vision for the new Museum in a series of salon-style events and personal conversations, inspiring 112 donor households to support the project through $100 million in cumulative commitments. These achievements include 100% participation by the Board of Trustees, who together have pledged more than half of that total.
